TKTL team pulls passenger jet in local charity event

Saturday, September 22, Triple K Transport Ltd (TKTL) added air freight to their list of trucking services as a TKTL team participated in the 7th annual Ottawa Senators, Sens’ Foundation Plane Pull Challenge event. TKTL’s team of 20, comprised of drivers, mechanics and office staff  was one of  35 teams from across Ottawa competing to pull an Air Canada A319 Airbus Jet Airplane 12 feet in the quickest time.

The competition was fierce with the RCMP fielding a strong team hoping to retain their crown from the 2011 event, which saw them win with a time of 4.55 seconds. Along with the RCMP, the Ottawa Police and Canadian Customs also fielded strong teams hoping to earn bragging rights over their enforcement rivals.

Congratulations to the Canada Customs team for winning that particular battle, unfortunately none of those teams were ready for the might of the Triple K Transport Truckers.

Pulling close to the end of the competition, Triple K Transport recorded an incredible time of 4.6 seconds, just 0.05 seconds off the previous year’s winning time, a remarkable effort after the team was compiled just one week before the event as a last minute entry to the competition. This gave TKTL the winning time in the community category of the event.

This time also gave Triple K the second place time overall, second only to the Westgate Taxi Drivers’ time of 4.3 seconds. Westgate Taxi Drivers are veterans of the competition, placing second in the previous years’ event with a time of 4.69 seconds.

Special mention to the ‘Plane Janes’ who were awarded the team with the “best spirit” and the ‘Unsung Hero Apparel – Gals’ who were the “most aesthetically pleasing team” and were the most photographed team out of all (no doubt they will be the poster team for the 2013 event!).

The weather could have been a little better, but it failed to dampen the spirits of the competitors. Congratulations

to the overall winners of Westgate Taxi Drivers.

The event saw a total of $70,000 raised for the Sens’ Foundation and Project Clear Skies.
